Our Safe Harbor

Our Safe Harbor

I came around the corner
of a winding road
Burdens piling up

weighed down by a heavy load

My back hunched and tired
In need of some relief
The breeze announced Your presence

To every blade and leaf

Staggered rays of sun
Lit up patches of Your woods
I see why You looked down

And saw that it was good

The pattern of the waves
Gently lapping on the shore
Quieted insecurities

No longer could they roar

I approached a descent
And leaned forward to coast
I began to feel weightless

In your power can I boast

In the meadow on the right
A deer grazed under your care
Why worry about tomorrow

When you are so aware

I looked to my left
And saw miles of blue
I marveled at your masterpiece

And drank in every hue

As the finish line grew near
Not wanting the ride to end
One more view caught my attention

As I came around the bend

Sailboats slightly swaying
Anchored in the harbor
Home after a day of

Navigating rough water

I couldn’t take my eyes off of
This peaceful scene
Cliffs served as the back drop

For a truth so serene

When burdens and worries rise
And we feel lost at sea
When the storms rise within

Our anchor You will be

After a long hour, day, or season,
When faith is put to the test
You invite us to Your harbor
To find peace and rest
