My Reflection

My Reflection

I glide through the water, hair tossed in Your breeze

Around, underneath, I see rustling leaves

The trees are so high yet under my feet

Paddling through art, like a Venice street

The water a mirror for all You have made

The heat index high so I look to find shade

In a familiar cove, I get down on my knees

To get closer to the approaching manatees

Some I see swimming by my side

Some underneath me as they glide

Others I can only see a nose

So close a whisker could touch my toes

In the distance I see two fins, then three

I paddle to find them, up off my knees

Underwater I see one gaining speed

The dolphin jumps and fulfills a need

I smile and feel a rush of joy

My board has been the perfect toy

Whenever I push away from the shore

It's like Lucy opened the wardrobe door

I leave behind the world I know

And float while feeling Your warm glow

No makeup on but I don't care

I always feel lovely and fierce out there

Out in the water I know I'll find You

Each sight and sound serve as my clues

That You are always in control

And seeking You remains my goal

I look down and see a reflection of me

Created by The Hand that Made the Sea

On my board, no matter how I'm dressed

When I look for You, I will look my best
